Recruiting Checklist

  • Set up an email account and social media account (instagram or twitter) for recruiting purposes with parent permission

  • Create a sample email to send to coaches that you can customize to each school you send it to

  • Make a “wish list” of schools you would like to attend

  • Meet with your club coach, or someone you trust, to give you a REALISTIC evaluation of the collegiate level you can play at

  • Modify your list of colleges to match your level of play

  • Register with University Athlete and create a FREE profile

  • Create a highlight video 2-5 minutes on Hudl

  • Meet with Recruiting Coordinator to review your materials and discuss your options and strategy

  • Begin emailing schools to let them know you are interested and include your team’s upcoming tournament schedule and highlight video. Invite them to come watch you play. (if you don’t yet have a highlight video, just send an email inviting coaches to come watch you play.)

  • Continue to research at least 5 new schools per week and e-mail the coaches of the ones that interest you

  • Once you establish contact with a college coach, make sure that you continue to stay in contact with them and send them updated highlight video and even raw footage if they ask for it.

  • Organize your unofficial transcript after each semester, starting after your sophomore year

  • Meet with your coaches and/or mentors to check in with them and let them know what schools you have been in contact with

  • Register with the NCAA Clearinghouse

  • Register with the NAIA Clearinghouse
