Our Staff

We believe in investing in our coaches across the central valley so that they can invest more into the athletes across the valley. We have some of the best coaches in California with vast experience from youth to high school to college to the USA National teams. They all have a passion to teach the game, help explore the athletes’ potential, and strive to coach in a way that fosters a love of the game for life.

JONATHAN WINDER

Owner

Jonathan is one of only 13 four-time All-Americans in NCAA volleyball history, a National Player of the Year, and National Champion. He coached men’s volleyball at Pepperdine and women’s indoor and beach volleyball at the University of Washington, where he mentored more than a dozen All-Americans and won two Pac-12 Championships. He was the Head Coach at Fresno State from 2018-2022 where they had the best winning percentage in over 20 years. He is now the head men’s volleyball coach at Pepperdine University.

HEATHER LONG

Executive Director

Heather Long served as the Director of Sport for Girls’ Basketball at Clovis North High School from 2012-2020, where she established a premier program in the Valley and the state. Heather earned a degree in Kinesiology – Exercise Science from Fresno State, along with a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University, while serving as a Graduate Assistant to the Men’s Basketball team.

LAUREN WINSLOW

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Lauren Winslow is a Valley native who attended Clovis West. She started out her athletic playing career in 2009 at Fresno Pacific and was part of the teams third National Championship in as many years. In 2010, Lauren transferred to Fresno State where she finished her playing career in 2013 and found her love for coaching. She has been coaching since 2013 and has had the privilege of being part of volleyball programs at CVC, Clovis West, Clovis East & Central Cal

KELSEE MONTAGNA

GIRLS CLUB DIRECTOR | RECRUITING COORDINATOR

Kelsee Montagna served as the head coach at Cabrillo College for four years before returning home to the Central Valley. She played at Cabrillo College and at the University of Providence, a double master in Organizational Leadership, Management at Providence and Exercise Science and Coaching at Concordia Irvine. She has directed Zootown VB (Montana) and SC Beach Club (Santa Cruz). Her coaching passion is the development of the player as a whole.. mind & body. She is certified in sports nutrition, strength & conditioning and a wide variety of yoga. She currently serves as the associate head coach for both indoor and beach at Fresno City College.

MATT OLIVEIRA

ASSOCIATE CLUB DIRECTOR

Matt Oliveira, a valley native, attended Clovis West High School where he graduated in 2007. He played under Bob McCarthy and helped the team to a Valley Championship his senior year. After a year at Cal Poly, Matt returned home in 2008 to continue his education at Fresno State and pursue coaching. Matt has coached boys and girls volleyball at various levels in the valley for the last 15 years. Before joining VVA, Matt coached for Clovis North High School and Central Cal Volleyball Club for 9 years. Last year, he assisted our 18 National and 14 West Coast teams, helping the 18s earn the first bid in club history and a 1st place finish in the silver bracket at Nationals. Additionally, Matt serves as the Technical Coordinator for the Fresno State Women’s Volleyball Team where he is entering his second year.

MARK ROSEN

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT (15-18U)

We are excited to announce the addition of Mark Rosen to the VVA staff! Coach Rosen joins VVA with many years of experience. He previously led the Univ. of Michigan for 24 years and is the most winningest volleyball coach of all-time for the BlueS. He has coached 13 All-Americans and has led the Wolverines to the NCAA post-season 19x. Rosen is no stranger to the Valley. In 1992 & 93′ he led Cal State-Bakersfield to the DII Regional Finals and National Runner-Up.

Coach Rosen will be overseeing the development of the 15-18U teams and coaches. He will also head coach the 16-national team for the 2024 season. 

JEFF WANDERER

CLUB ADVISOR

Jeff serves as the current head coach at West Hills College. He has coached club and high school volleyball for over 3 decades, where he has won a national championship. He coached in college at San Jose State and Fresno State with immense success. For over 20 years, he has been involved with USA Volleyball as a coach, scout, and team leader from youth programs all the way up to the senior women’s national team, as a team leader in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
